ISLAND Update - April 2025

Thanks again to everyone who attended the Hobart blood collections. We ended up with 732 samples, a fantastic effort from all!

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, there were many conversations expressing interest in results from blood and cognitive testing. Many of you wanted to know your genetic risk as it could help motivate healthy behaviours, or address niggling fears. But many others were very happy to manage risk without knowing about genetics. Research suggests that regardless of genetics, acting on your risk factors will still reduce your risk, and/or delay the onset of dementia.

Stay tuned for updates on the Insight Project, where we are working to co-design a way to communicate personal risk information. Other exciting upcoming activities are Campus (Semester 2), and cognitive tests including Cantab, TasTest and TapTalk, all scheduled for June/July 2025.
