May ISLAND Update

We hope you are all staying warm and well as the weather cools off here in Tasmania.

Some highlights from the month include:

  • At the start of the month our team had the pleasure of meeting some of you face to face at AGFEST. This was a great experience and we enjoyed talking to so many people interested in reducing dementia risk and the research we do in the Wicking Centre.
  • We held our first Community Advisory Group meeting which was a great success. It was wonderful to meet the group and discuss their experiences within the project.
  • Some of the team attended the Tasmanian Aged Care Conference where we were able to speak with current and future ISLAND participants and spread knowledge around dementia prevention.

Next month we will be kicking off our ISLAND seminar series with talks hosted in Launceston and Burnie. Hobart will follow in July. These seminars will be hosted by an expert panel made up of Wicking researchers and Dementia Australia support workers. Come along to learn more about our research and chat to other ISLAND participants and our team. For more information on who will be presenting, or to RSVP, please click your preferred location - Hobart, Launceston or Burnie.
