Brain Matters Podcast: Social connection, social frailty and dementia risk

The second episode of the Brain Matters podcast is now live. In this episode, Neil delves into socialising for dementia risk reduction and focuses on a couple of articles that highlight 'social frailty' and its links to dementia. Dr Hannah Fair is the guest researcher who brilliantly explains what this term means and what you should take away from the research.

We have also published a short episode explaining what ISLAND is, for those who may be unfamiliar with the project. This is a great one to share with friends and family who are curious to know what we do.

You can listen to these, and previous episodes, at the Brain Matters Podcast webpage or wherever you get your podcasts.

St Lukes Seminar - The Brains Plumbing

If you couldn't come to Gary's fascinating talk at St Luke's earlier in the month, you can watch the recording here: St Lukes ISLAND seminar series 2025/2026

In this fascinating talk, Gary explored how brain blood vessels actively change, support brain function, and contribute to cognitive decline when damaged. This was one of the most popular St Luke's ISLAND seminars with strong attendance and engagement. Thanks to everyone who made it along.
