ISLAND Update - March 2025

What a great start to Autumn we have had here in ISLAND. We have met many of you through our in-person research in Hobart, and would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has been coming in to participate in projects. We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the number of people who are keen to provide blood samples and easily filled the 800 booking slots. This is an integral part of the project and it is great to see new faces as well as those of you who are returning for the second or third time. Your commitment to dementia research is truly commendable.

If you are interested in what happens to the blood you donate, we highly recommend watching last year's presentation on Brain Biomarkers by Dr Jess Collins. You can watch this, along with the other recordings, by following this link: 2024 ISLAND Seminar Recordings. You may also be interested to learn more about the Insight Project, which considers how we can provide more personalised risk information, including your blood results.

Thanks for responding to last month's quick poll on whether you would be interested in member only events such as walks and coffee mornings.  We had almost 450 people respond to say that you would or may be interested so it is something we will look at doing in the future.
