Upcoming ISLAND Surveys - June 2024

Sub-Studies

In the next couple of months you may be invited to participate in some ISLAND sub-studies. These are completely optional and are not part of the main ISLAND survey wave coming up in October. They are, however, very important elements of the research into dementia risk and prevention and if you have the time and energy it would be wonderful if you participated.

  • This July the TAS Test team will be recruiting new participants and asking for those who have previously completed to the test to re-do it. TAS Test is a new computer test that has been developed by researchers at the University of Tasmania to precisely measure hand movements and a range of cognitive functions (memory, thinking skills etc). • In August, the Sleep Study and the Resilience Initiative will be looking for participants to repeat their surveys or sign up. These studies are investigating sleep and stress and the influence of these factors on dementia risk.

October surveys

As those of you who have been with us for a while know, October is when we send out our yearly ISLAND surveys. Without these, The ISLAND Project would not exist. This is where we ask that you please complete as many of the surveys as you can, drawing particular attention to the Dementia Risk Profile  as this is critical to the project.

We have listened to your feedback and are currently working to reduce the survey load, ensuring we are not asking you for any unnecessary information, as we value your time and want you to come back year after year. As always, thank you for your participation in the project. The work we do is solely possible due to your efforts!
