Upcoming TapTalk studies

Did you know that new research shows hand movements and speech change in the earliest stages of dementia?

Our researchers at the Wicking Centre have worked with computer scientists at the University to develop a new smartphone app called TapTalk. This new app aims to detect the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s disease risk using a 2-minute test of hand movements and speech-analysis. We received funding through the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation to develop this new app and are now ready to start testing it on a range of phones and comparing results to blood biomarkers and cognitive tests.

In 2025, we are inviting people from the ISLAND Project to take part in TapTalk research, and we do hope you will be able to help us - please look out for your invites soon! Further information on the TapTalk project is available here.
